ITCO Members Meetings – Postponed until 2021

Recognising the significant and unprecedented impact that COVID-19 will, without doubt, continue to have over the coming months, the ITCO Board has agreed to postpone the two 2020 ITCO Members Meetings (provisionally scheduled for Rotterdam and Singapore) until next year.

In making this decision, the Board has taken into account both the safety of our Members and the economic reality that we are facing.

For the foreseeable future, there are too many risks inherent in running Conferences – with the time spent travelling and at airports and in hotels, etc – to justify organising them. At the same time, the Board is very well aware of the tough business environment that Member companies will be facing for many months to come.

It is, of course, very disappointing to have to make this decision. ITCO Meetings always generate good industry discussion and permit valuable networking opportunities for our Members. However, our main concern is the health and safety of participants, as well as the financial impact that COVID-19 is having on our industry.

Once the pandemic is over – which hopefully will be soon – then we will be able to plan for next year. As it currently stands, our intention is to run Members Meetings in Europe and Asia in 2021. And, of course, the ITCO Tank Container Village is scheduled to be organised at transport logistic 2021 in Munich (4-7 May 2021).

The Health and Safety of our Members and their Families are foremost in our minds. We firmly believe this action is in everyone’s best interests - and we trust that you all understand and agree with our decision.

In the meantime, the Board and Secretariat are working to provide Members with a range of resources and information.

We continue to publish regular updates on matters of interest and we are actively promoting the ITCO video on our industry’s concern about plastic waste with the AEPW (Alliance to End Plastic Waste) headquarters in Singapore . We have requested them to allow ITCO to make a presentation to their chemical company members directly, to explain in greater detail how the tank container is one of the best modes of safely transporting bulk liquids.

We are always pleased to receive feedback, comments and suggestions from Members. Please feel free to contact me and the Secretariat – info@itco.org

Finally, please let me take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of ITCO, which is much appreciated.

Stay safe!
